The
Kimzey Large Animal Surgery Table was designed with the influence of the
veterinary staff at the University of California-Davis, and the Southern
California Equine Foundation and is now used at
universities and private clinics world-wide. The table is portable and
completely self-contained. The patient can be placed on the table in the
prep area, transported to the surgery room, and raised from 14" up to
38" (table top height). Each table end can be raised separately or
simultaneously, and movement between the minimum and maximum positions takes
just 35 seconds. After surgery, the patient can be returned to the
recovery area and pulled off the side or end of the table once it has been
lowered back to the 14" minimum height.
The patient is supported in a variety of positions during
surgery with
a
set of holders and platforms which are available. A removable head support
platform (A) fits into teflon-lined openings on the end of the table for dorsal
surgery. An IV holder (B) or tracheal tube support (C) can be placed in a
variety of positions on the head support platform. A 20x30" extension
(D) for the platform is provided should more head support area be needed
(30x36" with the extension). The tool tray (E) adjusts to different
heights for easy access. Four 20x37" leg support platforms (F) for
lateral surgery fit into slots along either side of the table to accommodate
larger or smaller animals. With the two sets of leg support platforms in place, an
animal can be pulled onto one set and completely rolled over onto the other
set. Each platform has two stainless-steel hinged D rings for tie downs,
and nine holes in which a variety of straight and offset tubes (G) can be
inserted. Four of these tubes have a half-moon shaped leg holder on one
end. Six different support tubes keep the leg holders in place. Two
sets of side holders (H) which can be adjusted up to 60 degrees with stainless
steel ratchets firmly support the patient on its back. Button heads on the
bottom of the side holders fit into 96 different keyhole slots on the table top
allowing the operator a wide variety of adjustments. Another feature is a
leg extension holder (I) for surgery or casting of a leg. A cross bar on
the extension adjusts from 36 to 60" wide.
The table is raised and lowered with four hydraulic cylinders in
a novel manner to give maximum lift with only 1,300 lbs. of hydraulic
pressure. The table
can lift up to 2,000 lbs. with a safe working pressure of 4,000 lbs.
and a bursting pressure of 18,000 lbs. which makes the Kimzey Large Animal
Surgery Table very safe to use.
Four 6" diameter, 3" wide cushioned caster wheels
allow the table mobility over most firm surfaces, or stability when the swivel
locks and adjustable brakes are engaged.
All wear points in the lift mechanism are stainless-steel and
turn in oil impregnated bronze bushings. Grease fittings are included on
all joints and wheels.
The 1/4" thick aluminum table top measures
32x84". The durable main frames are constructed with 3x2x3/16"
stainless steel tubing. The lifting arms are made of 1"
thick stainless steel plate. Two inch round stainless steel, stainless steel sleeves, and oil
impregnated bronze bearings comprise the heavy-duty cross shafts. The
hydraulic/electrical boxes are constructed with stainless steel for long
life. The electric motor is a 120 volt, single phase, one horse power
Westinghouse with a three-pronged grounded plug to connect to your 14 ga drop
cord. The table weighs 1150 lbs. without attachments.
